So what is CBT?
We can all experience difficult times in our lives that we may require help and support with. CBT is a form of psychological talking therapy, which aims to help people of all ages manage emotional, physical and mental health difficulties. It is an evidence-based treatment that is recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) Guidelines as the first line treatment for the successful management of many common mental health and addiction difficulties.

How can CBT help me?
When we experience distress we can often have negative feelings and thoughts (cognitions) which can influence how we might deal with a certain situation (behaviours). We can often find ourselves stuck in a vicious cycle of negative thoughts and behaviours that can be hard to break. Whilst CBT does explore the origins of the issues, it mainly works on a ‘here and now’ basis. This means understanding your current difficulties and give you effective coping strategies to be able to make changes in your life and move forward.
